ICC op kamp
From June 11th to 13th, the students of the International Crossover Class swapped their school desks for a few days of sun, excitement and shared adventures at our annual summer camp and what an unforgettable time we had!
Our journey began with a GPS walk through the countryside, leading us straight to Camp Heino. Once we arrived, it was straight into action: mini-golf in the woods, swimming in a private pool and plenty of delicious food - including pizza, spaghetti, and of course, bread cooked over a roaring bonfire.
The bonfire evening was a definite highlight. The children toasted marshmallows (some even ate three at once!) and baked their own bread on bamboo sticks. Around the campfire, we discovered frogs and dragonflies near the water, adding a little extra surprise to the night.
Thursday was packed with energy. The activity run by the lake tested our teamwork skills with five hours of challenges, cheering and laughing in the sunshine. Later, we met some very fluffy and friendly animals - alpacas, goats, donkeys and llamas (the clear stars of the show). In the evening, the children dressed up for the disco and made the most of our last night together at camp with games and karaoke.
On Friday, we made our way to Slagharen theme park, where things went from exciting to wild. Sam described the Gold Rush ride as "Amazing! We were all scared and excited. Suddenly we jolted forward… then we rode backwards twice the speed and even hung upside down for a few seconds! Not once, but three times!"
Oleg summed up the food perfectly: “It was yummy! I ate and ate and ate. Breakfasts at the canteen were a treat, with lots of choice and even two types of lemonade!"
Despite the heat, nothing could dampen our spirits. As Sid said, “We shared our time with each other and had a wonderful camp. Being together made camp excellent.”
We couldn’t agree more. This camp was the perfect ending to our ICC year - a joyful mix of laughter, adventure, bonding and memories that will last a lifetime.
