On May 22, 2014, in Amstelveen, Netherlands, Gwenette Martha was shot dead. His death occurred within the context of a violent conflict within the Dutch criminal underworld that had already claimed several victims.

But to understand how the story unfolded, we must go back several years.

In this report, DNA Show revisits his life, the main events of the conflict, and the various theories surrounding his murder.

After his murder, a USB drive found among his belongings would pique the interest of investigators. Its contents led them to the port of Antwerp, Belgium, and contributed to the opening of an investigation into a network operating around the port.

Amstelveen is a town and municipality in the Dutch province of North Holland. The built-up area borders the city of Amsterdam in the north and is not far from Schiphol. The municipality has 92,351 inhabitants and has a total area of 44.08 km², of which 41.13 km² is land and 2.95 km² water.
Until 1964 the municipality was called Nieuwer-Amstel. In the 13th century, the Amstelland was divided into Ouder-Amstel (east of the Amstel) and Nieuwer-Amstel (mostly west of the river).
After the Second World War, Nieuwer-Amstel became an overflow municipality for Amsterdam and also became a location for people who worked at Schiphol. Expansion neighborhoods were rapidly building up; In the 1960s, Amstelveen was the fastest growing city in the Netherlands for some time. However, the quality of living and landscaping were not lost sight of. From 1964 the name of the village that had grown into a suburb was given to the entire municipality.
Since 1995, the population has increased by 22% to almost 91,000 in 2021.

The Stadshart has a double function: city center and residential area. Living and working take place next to each other and one above the other. Many houses date from the period 1945-1970. In addition, many homes were renovated in the 1990s. In addition to the well-known weekly market on Fridays, the Stadshart offers an organic market on Tuesdays.

The Oude Dorp is a special part of Amstelveen: the old village of Amstelveen started here. The neighborhood is characterized by narrow streets. The current buildings are a mixture of old and new. The large amount of cafes and restaurants is striking. The district borders the railway embankment in the south-east. In the summer months, the museum tram from Amsterdam to De Poel still runs here. Parallel to this old track is now a cycle path, the Kazernepad. On the other side of the railway line is a natural bank.
