A discarded sheep, a life-sized cauldron that can talk, and flying objects. You never have to look far for magic at the Puppet Theatre. This month, the theatre is celebrating its 60th anniversary with extra performances and side activities. The passion and love for puppetry remain undiminished and intense.

The Amstelveen Puppet Theatre is celebrating its birthday lavishly. Throughout the month of October, there are performances and side activities, and all children visiting the puppet theatre this month will receive a gift. To top it all off, the year will conclude with a major performance at a unique location in Amstelveen.

On Wednesday, October 7, the municipal council will vote on whether or not to make additional funding available for the renovation of the cultural strip. The Municipal Executive is requesting 4.5 million euros on top of the previously pledged 19 million. Over the past few weeks, there has been extensive debate regarding whether or not the amount should be granted.

1Amstelveen followed the situation closely and spoke with both proponents and opponents. It was not surprising that there were occasional clashes between Alderman Gordon (D66) and Actief Voor Amstelveen faction leader Michel Becker. On Wednesday, before the vote, the swords will be crossed one last time.

The council meeting begins on Wednesday, October 7, at 7:30 p.m.
