Na 47 jaar is Mandy's Bloemenshop op de Amstelveenseweg verwoest door een brand. Die brak gisteravond uit na een kortsluiting in de koeling. Eigenaars en zussen Kim en Mandy zijn er kapot van. "Maar we gaan er alles aan doen om de kiosk weer open te krijgen."

"Dit is wat ervan over is", zegt Kim, terwijl ze naar de achterkant van de uitgebrande stal wijst. "Je ziet het, het is klaar." De bloemenzaak op de Amstelveenseweg is 47 jaar geleden opgericht door de ouders van Mandy en Kim. Inmiddels runnen de zussen de zaak en werkt ook de zoon van Kim in het familiebedrijf.

Hun vader kreeg gisteravond als eerste te horen dat het mis was. "Mijn vader bleef maar bellen. Hij zei: 'De stal is afgebrand.' Ik zei nog dat hij raar aan het praten was. Totdat de politie belde dat het echt was gebeurd", vertelt Kim.

Kortsluiting
De brand is ontstaan door een kortsluiting in de koeling, legt ze uit. Voor de rest is er nog veel onduidelijkheid. Wel is de schade enorm. "Mandy en ik gaan er alles aan doen, om te zorgen dat er een nieuwe kiosk komt. Als ik dit zie, dan huilt mijn hart."

The Amstelveen restaurant Aan de Poel, located on the Poel, has managed to secure two Michelin stars for the fourteenth time in a row. During the annual presentation of the Michelin Guide Netherlands on Monday, October 5 in Maastricht, it was announced that the restaurant has retained its two-star status.

The restaurant has been located on Handweg since 2007 and is led by head chef Stefan van Sprang, maître sommelier Robbert Veuger, and patron-cuisinier Sander de Jong. The restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars for the first time in 2012. Since then, the restaurant has managed to continue renewing and innovating. Co-owner and head chef Stefan van Sprang says that retaining the two stars gives a euphoric feeling. According to him, even after fourteen years, it remains a special moment.

Van Sprang emphasizes that he cannot do it alone. He describes his team as a ‘swinging machine’. When asked whether the Michelin stars place a certain pressure on the restaurant, Van Sprang responds with a second metaphor: ‘If a football team has a lot of confidence, they keep going. That is how we should think as well.’
