Tijdens de in De Spijker onlangs gehouden Algemene Leden Vergadering werd Hennie Spijker, begin jaren ’60 een van de pioniers van rugby in Amstelveen, benoemd tot Erelid van de Amstelveense Rugby Club.

Samen met zijn broer Theo en vele familieleden en vrienden was Hennie (1943) mede-oprichter van onze vereniging, destijds de Netherlands Scottish Rugby Club geheten. Hij was aanwezig bij de oprichtingsvergadering ten huize van Willem Kennis op de Amstelveenseweg op 24 juli 1963 en meldde onze club aan bij de Bond als de 14^e rugbyclub in Nederland.

Op het veld was de toen 20-jarige Hennie een onverzettelijke eerste rijer, en daarbuiten een vasthoudende verbinder die begreep dat arbeidsintensieve donateurswerving de meest betrouwbare manier was om onze snelgroeiende vereniging een solide financiële positie te bezorgen. Zijn tweejarig voorzitterschap in 1966/67 en 1967/68 werd voorafgegaan door een seizoen als secretaris en vervolgens twee jaar als wedstrijdsecretaris. Zijn bevlogen lijfspreuk was simpel; “Als we de eerste vijf jaar maar halen, dan redden wij het wel.” Zestig jaar na dato kunnen we constateren dat ‘ARC is er wel’ en staat als een huis.

In 1971 trouwde Hennie met zijn Paula en diende hij 10 jaar lang als jeugdwedstrijdsecretaris alsook manager/coach van NFC3; medio-jaren ’80 was Hennie ook nog plv. Jeugdleider. Tot de dag van vandaag is Hennie een graag geziene supporter langs de lijn. Hennie Spijker is de 10^e erelid van ARC, voorafgegaan door John Gale* (1981), Dick Jansma (1995), Tom Cornwall sr.* (1996), Cris Gale (2008), Theo Spijker* (2012), Karel Geel (2012), Nick Gale (2012), Henk de Best (2013) en René Grijzenhout (2015).

Namens iedereen die rugby in Amstelveen een warm hart toedraagt, feliciteren wij Hennie met diens benoeming tot Erelid en hopen wij de goedlachse verenigingsvader nog vele seizoenen in en om De Spijker te treffen.

Former chairman Hennie Spijker appointed Honorary Member

During the recent Annual General Meeting in De Spijker, one of the pioneers of rugby in Amstelveen in the Sixties was appointed Honorary Member; Hennie Spijker.

Hennie, born in 1943, was co-founder of our club together with his brother Theo, other family members and friends. He attended the meeting of the founding fathers on 24 July 1963 and registered our club, then known as the Netherlands Scottish Rugby Club, as the 14^th rugby club in the Netherlands.

On the pitch, the-then 20-year-old Hennie was a formidable front rower. Off the pitch, he was a tenacious connector who understood the crucial importance of labour-intensive fundraising to put our rapidly growing rugby club on a solid financial footing. His two-year term as Chairman in 1966/67 and 1967/68 was preceded by a season as Secretary and followed by two years as Fixtures Secretary. His enthusiastic motto was simple; “If we can get through the first five years, we’re on a roll.” Sixty years later we can confidently conclude that ARC has earned its spurs and is here to stay.

In 1971, Hennie married his Paula and thereafter served many seasons as fixtures secretary of the Youth department and manager/coach of NFC3; he was also deputy Youth Leader in the mid-‘80s. To this day, he is a welcome and popular supporter along the touchline. Hennie Spijker is the club’s 10th Honorary Member, preceded by John Gale* (1981), Dick Jansma (1995), Tom Cornwall sr.* (1996), Cris Gale (2008), Theo Spijker* (2012), Karel Geel (2012), Nick Gale (2012), Henk de Best (2013) and René Grijzenhout (2015).

On behalf of everyone who cherishes the Amstelveense Rugby Club we warmly congratulate Hennie on his appointment as Honorary Member and hope to welcome the affable and popular founding father for many-a season to come in the clubhouse that bears his name.

Work is underway to free up the 3rd team April 6th match.

I hope to have many Wanderers and 3rds playing and supporting this annual game and joining the afterparty with the Japanese in a local Izakaya.

This is DelBoy. I’ve been playing for ARC since 2001. Hung my boots up by now (almost). I've been asked by Mal and Bob

to help organise a rugby tour to Lyon in France. Real rugby country. I think I've already organised

about 12 tours for the club over the years and I can proudly say they have been a real success.

So, who is in?

Suggested dates to avoid other major events and games:

Thursday 22nd May to Sunday 25th May.

You can of course extend your tour to Monday 26th like I am going to do because I know what

tour hangovers are about :O)

Nothing is booked yet, but we think flying is a good option and probably the cheapest.

Estmations are:

Flight 150 -200

Hotel 3 nights 100 – 150 depending on requirements breakfast. Single beds etc.

Spending money usually a 50 euro kitty per day to cover beer and food.

We can use the club account to start saving up for the event Kris is our Financial manager and

he still has some kitty left from the Valencia amazing tour.

First I need to know numbers so please let me know asap then I can get a game organised and

book our pubs for the two cup finals that occur that weekend. This is going to be a proper tour

boys so don’t miss it. Bicycle tour (Pub crawl) of the city. Partying at night. Court trials for the

henous offenders but mostly great fun and an opportunity to become buddies for life!

The EPCR Challenge Cup final will be played at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday 23 May

2025 at 20:00 BST with the showpiece Investec Champions Cup final set for the following day,

Saturday 24 May 2025 at 14:45 BST, at the same iconic venue.

On Saturday, 11th January 2025, eight youth teams from the Amstelveense Rugby Club (ARC) achieved great success at the Beach Rugby Tournament held at The Beach, an Indoor Sport & Event Center in Aalsmeer.

The club was represented by three Mini's teams, three Benjamins teams, and two Turf teams, competing alongside over 400 players from across the Netherlands. Several players from all ARC teams earned trophies, marking a proud moment for the club.

This event was made possible through the support of ARC members, who contributed via the Pancake Challenge.

Congratulations to all the young players for their outstanding performance and for proudly representing ARC in their colours!

This Friday promises to be a busy and exciting day at Amstelveense Rugby Club, with multiple activities lined up for both players and rugby enthusiasts.

Starting at 19:00, at the meeting room, we will be hosting the Referee Course Level 1. Led by an experienced team of trainers, including our very own Joost Puijpe, this course is ideal for those looking to deepen their understanding of the game from the referee’s perspective (I need to do this course !!! ).

At the same time, friendly matches will be held using the two available pitches, featuring our youth players from the ARC Cubs, ARC Juniors and ARC Colts against visiting teams from England from the Quarrydale Acadamy. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our young athletes to showcase their skills on home turf!

In addition to the courses, at 20:00, the Lowlanders Newbies Course continues. This 6-week program is perfect for anyone wanting to learn the basics of rugby, offering hands-on experience and guidance from skilled coaches. It’s a fantastic way to get involved in the sport, whether you’re new or just looking to brush up on the fundamentals.

Julia Morauw, will be representing the Netherlands in the women's rugby team as they take on Samoa!

Julia, who began her rugby journey at Amstelveense Rugby Club when she was just 10 years old. Sh has made incredible strides since her early days when she trained with ARC1 players like Quinten. She played at the club from 2012 until 2020, and now, she's about to face a huge milestone on the international stage. One of our own!

Even better news: The match will be broadcast LIVE on Dutch television, so tune in to Ziggo Sports 4 this Saturday at 18:20 local time. It is the first time a Dutch Ladies match will be broadcasted on live television. This match is especially exciting as the Dutch Ladies will be facing Samoa, a team they don’t often compete against. "They play a different game than we are used to, which will make it very exciting to watch," says Julia.

For the Netherlands, this game is crucial as a victory brings them one step closer to qualifying for next year’s World Cup. The team is fighting for one of the two remaining WXV3 tickets.

Julia describes this opportunity as “personally very exciting” as she gets the chance to play on a big stage in Dubai, facing teams from all over the world.

Vandaag, 31 augustus 2024, is het de dag van de scheidsrechter, maar eerlijk gezegd spreek ik liever over Match Official. Of je de daadwerkelijke scheidsrechter bent, de assistent scheidsrechter, de linesman, de 4^e of 5^e official of de match commissionair ze zijn allemaal belangrijk om ervoor te zorgen dat we kunnen genieten van rugby.

Today, 31st of August 2024, is the day of the referee, but to be honest I’d rather speak of Match Official. Whether you are the actual referee, the assistant referee, the linesman, the 4^th or 5^th official or the match commissioner they are all important to make sure we all can enjoy the game of rugby.

For who? Everyone from 14 years old!

Would you like to contribute to better and nicer games? Register by sending a mail to MOC@arcrugby.nl. The Course will be provided by ARC as long as you subsequently put your training into practice.

In memoriam Aart Hanekamp

Earlier this week, we received the sad news of the passing of our former club member Aart Hanekamp on July 27th. During several seasons in the seventies/eighties, Aart was not only a giant on the field but also our club physio. In the early '80s, he was also the physio for Jong Oranje. In that capacity, he was responsible for the physical well-being of a large group of young NFC players who transitioned from Klein Oranje to the national Under-18 team. Youth players and clubmates from that time remember him as sympathetic, quirky, knowledgeable, and a true life artist, always up for a joke.

At Amstelveense Rugby Club, we take pride in the achievements of our senior player, Nils Schouten. Nils had the honor of wearing the Orange shirt and representing the Netherlands U20 against Samoa U20 last Wednesday 17th July 2024 at Hive Stadium in Edinburgh.

Nils's performance on the field was a testament to his dedication, skill, and the rigorous training at our club lead by Samantha Gion and Chris Joor. His journey from our grounds to the international stage is an inspiration to all our players and a point of pride for our entire ARC community.

We invite you to witness more of Nils's games and experience the passion of rugby at Amstelveense Rugby Club. Join us in supporting our players as they strive for excellence both on and off the field.

TROTS!!! Vandaag heb ik weer de cubs van Amstelveen RC op hun best gezien. Vier spelers die bij het clusterteam van de Rams meespeelden. Die hebben zich over een teleurstelling heen gevochten om vervolgens het grote verschil te maken in dat team. Amstelveen 1 die knetterhard hebben gewerkt en in een onderling duel met Den Haag 2 het erg spannend maakten… een team (lees 2011 spelers) om zeker rekening mee te houden volgend jaar! En dan nog Amstelveen 2 dat het tot Beachrugby kampioen van Nederland heeft geschopt… bij alle spelers van de Amstelveense cubs prachtige bezieling gezien… en los van alle mooie prestaties ben ik daar het meest trots op. Het feit dat we tot het laatste moment één team zijn geweest! - Mark

Voor mijn studie ben ik met een paar medestudenten bezig om een bitje te ontwikkelen die impacten naar het hoofd meet tijdens het beoefenen van contactsporten. Dit om te helpen met het herkennen en diagnosticeren van hoofd/brein trauma's.

Daarnaast willen wij een aandoening genaamd “Second Impact Syndrome” zoveel mogelijk proberen te voorkomen. Misschien weet u al wat dit is, maar hier is een korte samenvatting van wat dit eigenlijk betekent: wanneer iemand een impact naar het hoofd krijgt, zwelt het brein op waardoor er minder ruimte over is in de schedel voor het brein om een tweede impact te absorberen. Mocht een atleet in dit geval nog een impact naar het hoofd hebben, heeft dit ernstige gevolgen. Dit kan fataal zijn.

Om een beter beeld te krijgen hoe atleten met brein trauma’s om zouden gaan, hebben we een korte anonieme vragenlijst die maar 2-3 minuutjes tijd nodig heeft om ingevuld te worden.

Dear sports club, coaches and athletes,

For my studies, I am working with a few fellow students to develop a device that measures impacts to the head while playing contact sports to help recognise and diagnose head/brain trauma.

In addition, we want to prevent a condition called "Second Impact Syndrome" as much as possible. You may already know what this is, but here is a brief summary of what this means: when someone receives an impact to the head, the brain swells, leaving less space in the skull for the brain to absorb a second impact. If an athlete has another impact to the head, the consequences are much more severe. These can even be fatal.

To get a better idea of how athletes would cope with brain trauma, we have a short anonymous questionnaire that only takes 2-3 minutes.

We are excited to announce that preparations for the 2024/2025 season have officially begun! Last Saturday, June 16th 2024, our Managers and Coaches came together for a full day of activities, focusing their efforts on setting the foundation for a successful season ahead.

The day was a success, filled with productive meetings, strategic planning, and team-building exercises. The dedication and enthusiasm of our club staff were of true ARC'ers, and it’s clear that we are all committed to shaping the future of our club together.

To celebrate the day's accomplishments, we ended with a BBQ, bringing everyone together to relax and enjoy the camaraderie that makes our club special. We are incredibly proud to have such a passionate and committed team of volunteers driving us forward.

De concept notulen van de ALV van 29 november 2023 volgen zeer spoedig.

Statutenwijziging: zoals uit de agenda blijkt, staat een besluit statutenwijziging op de agenda. De tekst met daarin zichtbaar de voorgestelde wijzigingen aangebracht, is bijgesloten.

Om dit besluit te kunnen nemen, moeten minstens twee/derde van alle leden aanwezig of vertegenwoordigd zijn. Als we dit quorum niet halen, zullen we binnen vier weken een tweede ledenvergadering houden. In die tweede vergadering kunnen we het besluit nemen, ongeacht het aantal aanwezige of vertegenwoordigde leden, mits met een meerderheid van ten minste twee/derde van de uitgebrachte geldige stemmen.

U kunt een ander lid machtigen om namens u te stemmen. Let op: één lid kan slechts voor één ander lid een machtiging krijgen. Als u iemand wilt machtigen, neem dan contact op met de secretaris (gegevens hieronder) om dit tijdig voor de vergadering te kunnen regelen.

The legendary Speedboat team is playing today Saturday 8th June in the Ameland Beach tournament. Representing ARC, are Team Speedboat 1 and Team Speedboat 2.

This year’s edition, the speedboat sets its course through the jungle to a lost island named AMELAND. Because no one ever walked the jungle alone we will be accompanied by the first-ever woman crewmembers, clustering with AAC, under AAC name.

Terwijl Jesse blijft uitblinken en groeien, moedigen we hem aan bij elke stap die hij zet. Zijn succes is een weerspiegeling van het erfgoed van onze club en de mooie toekomst van onze aanstormende talenten.

Last Saturday Rugby Nederland had the finals of the primary Men and Women competition. In the men’s final ‘t Gooi won against HRC in a close game. At the Gooi site, former ARC second row, Jim Boelrijk dominated the line out and at the HRC site Jurjen Jorna, former ARC prop, played at Nr8 and had some impressive ball carries.

The Women Final saw Isis Touw and Demy Puijpe competing for the win. Isis played an important role in securing the win for The BlueBabes first as centre and later as fly half and Demi had an important role as scrumhalf.

Furthermore Samantha Martinez Gion (current coach of ARC) played as prop for Diok and Leon Koenen (former ARC youth player) coached the Diok site.

Of course we want our 1^st sides competing at the highest level and I expect them to be back there in 2025. In the meantime it is good to see that players that learned to run with the ball and tackle without hesitation at ARC are making an impact in other clubs as well.

Good to know that before these finals were played Team Turf again showed how it all starts in their last tournament of this season.

ARC maakt impact op Nederlands rugby

Afgelopen zaterdag had Rugby Nederland de finale van de voorverkiezingen voor mannen en vrouwen. In de mannenfinale won 't Gooi van HRC in een close game. Op de Gooi-site domineerde voormalig ARC tweede rij, Jim Boelrijk de line out en op de HRC-site speelde Jurjen Jorna, voormalig ARC-prop, op Nr8 en had een aantal indrukwekkende baldragers.

In de vrouwenfinale streden Isis Touw en Demy Puijpe om de winst. Isis speelde een belangrijke rol in het veiligstellen van de winst voor The BlueBabes, eerst als center en later als fly half en Demi had een belangrijke rol als scrumhalf.

Verder speelde Samantha Martinez Gion (huidig coach van ARC) als prop voor Diok en coachte Leon Koenen (voormalig ARC jeugdspeler) de Diok site.

Natuurlijk willen we dat onze 1e ploegen op het hoogste niveau meedoen en ik verwacht dat ze er in 2025 weer bij zijn. In de tussentijd is het goed om te zien dat spelers die bij ARC zonder aarzelen met de bal hebben leren rennen en tackelen, ook bij andere clubs impact hebben.

Goed om te weten dat voordat deze finales werden gespeeld Team Turf weer eens liet zien hoe het allemaal begint in hun laatste toernooi van dit seizoen.

Bedroefd vernamen wij het trieste nieuws van het overlijden van onze oud-voorzitter
Anton Swaters op donderdag 18 april 2024. Anton (85) was voorzitter van onze
vereniging in het seizoen 1977/78, en secretaris in de drie voorafgaande seizoenen.

Anton, geboren en getogen in Julianadorp, leerde rugby'en bij een studentenclub
en in 1972 is hij lid van NFC geworden. Hij werd een vaste waarde in het derde team
van onze toen negen-jaar-oude vereniging. Teamgenoten herinneren hem niet alleen
als de 'eeuwige' medicijnenstudent, maar ook als een gezellige clubgenoot, een sociaal
en aimabel mens, breed georiënteerd en als bestuurder capabel, verbindend en
consensuszoekend, "hetgeen hij als geen ander kon" volgens een toenmalige
medebestuurder.

Hij was onze voorzitter in zowel levendige als roerige tijden; niet alleen de
grootse prestaties van onze opkomende jeugdafdeling en weergaloze clubfeesten en
partijen, maar met name de interne discussie over 'de harde lijn', de
trainingsaccommodatie (het gravelveld, wij waren de enige Ereklassevereniging zonder
grastrainingsveld), een eigen rugbybar, de eigen identiteit benadrukken en vooral over
onze toekomst als club; voortbestaan als afdeling van een omni-vereniging, of de
zelfstandigheid aandurven.

Enthousiast was hij van de partij op verschillende (Wanderers-)rugbytours –
Crepy-en-Valois, Jersey, Portugal, Georgië en zelfs de onvergetelijke reis naar Cuba. In
Amstelveen was Anton doorgaans langs de lijn vergezeld van zijn lieve echtgenote
Irene - de zus van onze eerste Lid van Verdienste Johan Bennewitz - zoonlief Boris en
hun immer aanwezige en trouwe viervoeter, de Schotse terriër Archie. "Rugby bij NFC
was vooral een familiegebeuren", schreef Anton zelf in het in 1988 verschenen
Jubileumboek (pag. 189) over de eerste 25 jaar rugby in Amstelveen. Decennialang na
diens bestuursperiode droeg hij onze club een warm hart toe en – als clublid tot 2011 –
volgde ons op de voet, ondanks zijn drukke baan als zorgopleider in Zutphen.

Als club hebben wij dankbare herinneringen aan Anton en wensen Irene, Boris
en verdere familie veel sterkte met het verwerken van hun zware verlies

Anton Swaters - in memoriam

We were saddened to hear of the death of our former chairman, Anton Swaters,
on Thursday 18 April 2024. Anton (85) was chairman of our club in the 1977/78 season,
and secretary in the three previous years.

Anton, born and bred in the northern Dutch community of Julianadorp, learned
his rugby as a student and joined our club in 1972. He turned out regularly for the 3rd
XV of our nine-year-old club. Fellow team members remember Anton as the ‘eternal’
medicine student, but also as a convivial, sociable and amiable individual with wide-
ranging interests and as a capable, unifying and consensus-seeking administrator,
“something he accomplished as no other” according to a fellow board member at the
time.

He was our chairman in an era that was as lively as it was turbulent. Not only the
formative years of our emerging youth department, when we were achieving nationwide
renown - and NFC-Rugby’s reputation as the place to be for extravagant, unequalled,
parties. But also – and primarily – due to the ongoing internal discussions about taking a
hard line with respect to turning up to training and playing the weekend afterwards.
Other issues were our primitive training facilities – a gravelled ‘pitch’ (we were the only
Ereklasse club not to have grass to train on), a rugby bar we could call our own, the
growing desire to fully establish our sense of rugby identity, and first and foremost our
future as a club; whether or not to continue as the rugby department of a multi-sport
club that had set us on our way, or embark on the journey towards self-reliance and
ultimately independence.

Anton was an enthusiastic tourist on various Wanderers trips, including Crepy-
en-Valois, Jersey, Portugal, Georgia and even the memorable experience in far-off
Cuba. Back in Amstelveen, Anton was regularly accompanied by his charming wife
Irene – sister of our first Member of Merit, Johan Bennewitz – their son Boris and the
faithful four-legged companion, a Scottish Terrier named Archie. "Rugby at NFC was
chiefly a family happening”, as Anton put it in our Jubilee Book (p. 189), celebrating the
first 25 years of rugby in Amstelveen (1963-1988). In the decades following his
chairmanship, Anton remained involved with and committed to the club’s development –
and a club member until 2011 – despite his busy life as a care manager in the eastern
Dutch city of Zutphen.

We recall Anton with fondness and respect, and wish Irene, Boris and the wider
Swaters family every strength in coming to terms with their sad loss.

On another big news of the club: the ARC Mini’s have finished 3rd on their pool.

On Saturday the 16th March, when the finals of the 6 nations was taking place, the ARC Minis played the last game against Eemland, leaving the Amstelveen team on the 3rd place of the Landelijk Minifestival at the Amstelveense Rugby Club grounds.

After ending up in the top tear in the first half of the season, the cluster AAC+ARC, also known as CL Groot Mokum is in the second place on the 2e klasse Dames (2023-2024). By winning last Sunday 24th March, their game against CL Delfte Dames 50-5, our ARC ladies cluster is officially promoting!

The legendary Speedboat team is going to Ameland with at least 2 teams to play the Ameland Beach tournament on the 7-9 June 2024.

This year’s edition, the speedboat sets its course through the jungle to a lost island named AMELAND. Because no one ever walked the jungle alone we will be accompanied by the first-ever TSB woman crewmembers. In case you consider yourself worthy of such an adventure.

Deze week ontving ARC-speler Cas Brouwer een bronzen medaille en certificaat van de Koninklijke Maatschappij tot Redding van Drenkelingen (KNRD) uit handen van de burgemeester van Amstelveen. Afgelopen Mei redde Cas samen met een klasgenoot een jongen uit het water die dreigde te verdrinken in het Amsterdamse Bos. Een held op en buiten het veld! We zijn trots op je Cas!

Beste allemaal,

We starten het jaar met een bijzonder rugby weekend!

Na de jeugdwedstrijden van de Benjamins en de Cubs, zullen de onderlinge wedstrijden tussen de Lowlander M en ARC2+3 en de Lowlander W tegen de ARC Dames plaatsvinden in het kader van de Paddy Cup.

De Paddy Cup is een herdenkingswedstrijd voor ons oud-lid Patrick Bart, die ons enkele jaren terug ontvallen is. Hij was een gewaardeerde speler en supporter van zowel ARC3 en de Lowlanders, en deze wedstrijden gedenken hem en waar hij voor stond: liefde voor de sport, tolerantie en enthousiasme.

Op zondag zal het eerste herenteam het opnemen tegen het eerste herenteam van AAC, in de enige échte derby in Amstelveen en omstreken die er toe doet. Deze wedstrijd kan, nu al, wel eens bepalend zijn voor het kampioenschap in de eerste klasse.

Twee aan elkaar gewaagde traditionele aartsrivalen tegenover elkaar, maar met sterke banden tussen onze verenigingen, zowel geografisch, historisch en met clusterende jeugd en dames-teams. Komt dat zien!

LET OP! In verband met de internationale wedstrijd later op de dag is de kick off om 11:00 ’s ochtends!!!

Voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd zal een moment van stilte in acht worden genomen, in verband met het recente overlijden van Johan Ferwerda. Gewaardeerd rugby persoonlijkheid binnen Nederland en lid van AAC. Wij wensen alle naasten veel sterkte in deze moeilijke tijd.

We start the year with a special rugby filled weekend!

After the youth matches of the Benjamins and the Cubs, the mutual matches between the Lowlander M and ARC2+3 and the Lowlander W against the ARC Ladies will take place in the context of the Paddy Cup.

The Paddy Cup is a memorial game for our former member Patrick Bart, who passed away a few years ago. He was a valued player and supporter of both ARC3 and the Lowlanders, and these matches commemorate him and what he stood for: love for the sport, tolerance and enthusiasm.

On Sunday, the first men's team will take on the AAC first men's team in the one and only derby that really matters. This match may already be a key game for the championship in the first division!

Two evenly matched traditional arch-rivals opposite to each other, but with strong ties between our clubs, geographically, historically, and with clustering youth and women's teams. Be there or be square!

ATTENTION! Due to the international competition later in the day, the game starts at 11:00 am!!!

Before the match, a moment of silence will be observed in commemoration of the recently passed away Johan Ferwerda. He was a highly esteemed rugby personality in the Netherlands and member of AAC. We wish all close to him strength in these rough times.

Tomorrow at 13:00, we kick off 2024 with our annual match against Lowlanders for the Paddy cup, in honour of Paddy Bart. Last time this match was played it was won for the first and only time by ARC. So let’s see what is going to happen this 2024. - Lars
